Hi Jay,

Today's report.

My wife got back from China last Saturday, and I've been trying hard to convince my 2 year old that he's really tired at 2 am. Sigh. Nonetheless, a week of sleep deprivation has done much to change my outlook. Her investment suggestion was AAPL. It seems that we will soon be inundated with IPOD's, so much so that the factory producing them worked overtime and through the Chinese New Year.

Today, I closed out all of my dow stocks except for GSS and a small short. Bot several dia leap puts, as a bottom fishing expedition. At least 25 years of history are on my side for having at least a major correction before they expire. I don't see the upside being so great that we will not retrace through this ground sometime soon. I could be wrong, but even if we were to stay where we are, it would require the indices to have pulled off the greatest rally in history. I don't think the news is that good.

Initially, I felt as though we would melt up or at least retest our recent highs before heading back down. I am no longer sure of this happening. Several things have not gone as expected, namely oil prices. Today's action in the dollar I think turns out bad no matter how you look at it. As such I think the markets will correct soon, within weeks. I am not holding any long term positions of size and have gone to all cash in my retirement accounts. Bottom line is, I don't have a better than 50/50 guess as to where we're headed, and that means I should be flat long term. If we rocket up, I'll happily trade along the way.

Futures in oil, gold and commodities have not given me any good setups, so I'm staying away, and haven't had enough time to play.

Which brings me to currencies futures. I was sitting tight happily today waiting for a good time to buy euros. Hahahahaaaa... The waters are a little too rough right now for me to venture in. I need to study a lot more this weekend.

I think I'm going to finish digging those holes in my back yard, and truck in the rest of that rebar and concrete.
