it's the only explanation why the Dems pushed the story when they did... It is ginned up out of their hatred of Bush. They just can't wait to attack him. The Primaries have allowed them to attack Bush with little coming back from him. This is why Rove said a year ago that the race would tighten up. Now that Kerry appears to have it wrapped up, the daily pounding from the left doesn't get as much press. The Reporters have been pulled off the campaign trail and sent to cover other stories. I can see the difference in the Newspaper coverage already. Without this AWOL story, we would be back to normal Political news.
