The best defense is a good offense. The Dem had no interest in bringing up anything personal, but they could see the huge nasty RNC campaigning coming and decided to go for the achilles heel of GW first. GW's achilles heel is that he pretends to be a tough military commandre but when it was his turn, he fled or hid. CLinton never pretended to be a military guy. Kerry doesn't have to pretend, he is.
