A story I have always remembered goes like this (ethnicities changed to avoid offense): Guy from Venus: "The bank won't give me a loan because I'm from Venus!" Guy from Mars: "That's strange. When I first arrived on this planet, I was broke and nobody would lend me money. Now I'm wealthy, and everybody wants to lend me money. Funny thing is, I'm still from Mars."

Asians, Jews, Irish, etc., have all been able to progress because they have all started here willingly, in enclaves, fashioning businesses that essentially served themselves from practices and behaviors in their own culture. Go to any Asian market and you see this in action. Capital moves through their communities multiples of times before exiting, each time enhancing the income producing ability of a different person within the enclave. Eventually, aspects of the culture are picked up by "outsiders," increasing the flow of income into the enclave and ultimately making it part of the mainstream. Asians are not exactly there yet, but it is happening. It has happened with Jews and the Irish. Very little of these constructs existed with blacks. Much to their chagrin, blacks have always looked to us and not to themselves. Their "enclaves" have always been fashioned by us, originally consisting of slave quarters. Blacks hate admitting this, but it is the truth. Many blacks ridicule academic-minded blacks as those who "act white" and they develop thug culture essentially as a backlash against us. Slave culture never really allowed blacks to form the cultural capital that other groups have taken for granted. It caused blacks to instead form a culture that even today is defined in terms of us, being based upon the oppression that our ancestors have wrought upon their ancestors. It is nothing upon which to build a future. The secret blacks need to learn has two parts: 1. Blacks need a wealth-building ethic that is firmly and openly based upon traditional (not current) American ideals and culture, 2. Blacks need a traditional (not current) moral culture through which this ethic can be efficiently transmitted to all blacks. In short, blacks need cultural efficiency so that when one black sees another, he can quickly seek the behavioral clues that will allow him to assume that that black has all of the cultural requirements to work hard, save capital and meet goals. Given the above items, blacks would have trust in the ability of each other so that capital can be more efficiently loaned around their communities, enabling them to build institutions in which other Americans would eventually participate and patronize. Currently, in many communities blacks have very little self-respect and thus very little trust. They make a lot of money as a group, but they don't have enough vision to build trust amongst themselves so that they can loan capital to build institutions. Heck, in many places they don't even have enough trust to walk outside at night. So they make money and spend it on garbage, trying in futility to find esteem through material goods that quickly perish. Slavery is certainly still deeply impacting this people. Many black scholars understand the dynamics involved and suggest the same remedies I have mentioned here, with even greater detail and better specific solutions. I have read them and keep in touch with some. But it is easy to blame someone else for failure, especially when someone else is in fact significantly to blame. So these scholars are hardly able to gain much currency in the face of black whiners like Sharpton and Jackson. And leftists make sure they don't gain currency. But I should add that an increasing number of blacks have gained all of the above respect largely by circumventing much of the black culture that now reduces blacks to beggar status. They have formed culture directly with us. We unfortunately have historically disallowed this, but thankfully that seems to be changing. If blacks are willing to join us directly, to share our values and model them, then we should let them, being sure never to insult them by associating them with the defeatist and crime-burdened culture that seeks to ridicule them. I say, let them live and be free however they can. Gotta run...
