I can't be certain that if I grew up in that situation that I would not be a suicide bomber" I am quite in agreement. I am simply pondering what I have learned over many years. Although I have retained my values through terrible circumstances...I have watched many "ordinary" people cross lines they never thought they would ever have crossed. So I would almost never say never. We do what serves our self interest. But self interest is not a static element. One minute you love your rabbit; next minute you hate him for eating your favourite cat.
