Brian,

re: You slight every member of the National Guard with your characterizations.

and...

re: The smart people joined the National Guard _before_ their draft numbers were called up.

So the guard was a bunch of people smart enough to anticipate that they would need to avoid the draft?

Boy, Ted really libeled those patriots!

John

I know full well what it was like. My father was in the National Guard at that time. Sorry to burst your bubble, but he was a poor minister's son who had no favors to call in. The smart people joined the National Guard _before_ their draft numbers were called up. The big press to join came after people were drafted.

You slight every member of the National Guard with your characterizations.

Denial will work only for so long.

The smart people joined the National Guard _before_ their draft numbers were called up.

With that statement, you, Brian, just insulted every guy who ended up fighting his ass off in Vietnam. Furthermore, you invalidated the very life of every guy who died fighting that dirty little war deemed necessary by the power elite of this country. And the reason for that war was staged just like this one. I hope you understand why I don't take my cue from you.
