Well the unions traditionally vote Democrat because Republicans usually side with management. And also there is the CFR connections and that clout in the mix. But you really don't believe that influence exists. But the CFR owed Hilary.

O/T Hey reality. NYC and Jersey aren't places for the faint of heart. When you come onto other people's turfs and threaten their livelyhoods, of course they're going to respond. Perhaps he could pull that S^$# down South where people are more apt to roll over to authority and are much more anti-union (no wonder their wages are lower down there), but Jersey and NYC are tough places, people will fight for their interests.

Hillary, as a Democrat, brings a lot more to the table for unions and working people in New York than any RepubliCON could. A big business RepubliCON will look out for his own kind as the RepubliCONs in Washington have done for decades. Their kind are wealthy developers like your bud from Conneticut. The RepubliCONs have engaged in a decades long class war against the interests of working people in America. Just look at what they've done recently under Bush, Jr. Running up the national debt with a massive infusion for the military industrial complex and security apparatus (great for rich bond holders, bad for working people who bear the brunt of the spending cuts when they ultimately must be made), changing the 7 decades old overtime rules (screwing millions working people out of overtime, and elitists like you wonder why working people in NY voted for Hillary?), skewing tax cuts to the very wealthy (as if the rich could use another tax cut? Working people struggle every day to get by and could use a break, something the Democrats are lacking in as well), killing ergonomics rules that would have prevented work related injuries, gutting the EPA and OSHA (hurting working people's interests), not doing anything to help preserve jobs in the U.S. that are being outsourced to Asia.

The RepubliCONs have a clear agenda that they have persued over the decades. That agenda is representing the interests of capital and the very wealthy over everyone else. And country club Republicans like you from wealthy Conneticut wonder why working people in NY vote for a Democrat like Hillary. The American people are stupid, but New York working people aren't stupid enough to vote against their economic interests and vote RepubliCON.
