>>in the past many of our so-called trade negotiators were so poor at it one has to ask just WHO they were negotiating for, but none of that has anything to do with Bush. He is stuck with what he inherited. My understanding is Bush is a far tougher negotiator which is one of the reasons the Germans and French would like to see him replaced by another softie. You know and Internationalist like Kerry.<<

The effects of those trade agreements will defeat Bush if he does not take steps to show his concern for Americans workers caught as pawns in the global trade chess game.

Last night during Wisc debate, Kerry admitted he voted for NAFTA but as usual tried to straddle the issue by stating he & other negotiators attached 'side bar' agreements that addressed workers rights. He charged that the Bush Adm refuses to enforce those stipulations. John Edwards followed Kerry & asserted he would include workers rights in text of the trade agreements--not as side bars. As a mill workers' son(1st in his family to attend college) Edwards would make a far better chief executive than Kerry or Bush. They've led privileged lives & therefore cannot understand the injustice inflicted on hard-working Americans by current trade policies.
