Quite a bit if water coming out the tailpipes of conventional cars. We call it black ice. We live with your nightmare scenario 4 months a year. The solution is tons, and tons, and tons of salt.

The auto makers really have made amazing strides in corrosion protection the last few years. 20 years ago, a car'd start rusting out after a couple of years here. Now I bet a typical car goes about 10 without significant rust.
