this preoccupation that the media has with Bush's guard service etc. is just a misread on the public sentiment imho. Yes Bush has a credibility gap but not because he was AWOL years ago. It is because he does things like that post of yours earlier about MTBE, he lies about iraq and deficits and what his real agenda is wrt jobs for workers, you name it. Because of all this "truth-smithing", on matters of TODAY, the public can be convinced he went AWOL years ago. Not that it really matters but it is only believable that a US president went AWOL if he seems untrustworthy TODAY.
