Yes, but to be fair, in the big picture there was far more to USA security then Vietnam. We were in a very HOT Cold war and the Air Assets of the Air National Guard were relatively important in providing our HOME security. As I understand it, Bush's unit in particular flew outmoded fighter jets incapable of carrying bombs (so they would have been useless in Nam IMHO) but were valuable in providing air cover over the USA. There are many ways to serve the country, all of them honorable IMHO. jdn
