I don't like any of the candidates, though anyone who runs against Bush, I'll vote for several times. Oh, okay, once. I have a (Democratic) friend who emailed me these reactions to the candidates. This was on January 30 (not long after Dean's manic performance ruined his life) but I thought of her email when I saw your reactions. (She's taking me to task because I don't watch C-Span and do watch Survivor and American Idol! (Go Fantasia!)) I'm only pasting them because I think she's entertaining:Reality TV is not in the same entertainment ballpark as this campaign. How can you compare them? The characters are beyond belief wonderful. Kerry, who plays God handing down the Ten Commandments, Edwards the darling golden boy, Dean the plain, honest man and tragic figure, Lieberman the whining, nasal wimp, warmonger & Israel-freak, Kucinich the indefatigable, hopeless revolutionary, Clark the general in political kindergarten trying desperately to learn his lines, Sharpton the eloquent spoiler with the despicable past and gangster haircut, all of them versus Bush, who is the Devil – my God, what more could you ask? You can forget for whole minutes that the fate of the world is at stake. ... And the wives! Elizabeth Edwards, the dowdy, disheveled, intelligent, likable campaigner with fat thighs who looks ten years older than her husband and suffers agonies over it. The whole nation of women could identify with her. Judy Dean, the sweet, shy, loyal girl who clings to the thought of opening an outpatient clinic in the White House basement to keep her world intact. Teresa Heinz Kerry, the heiress who talks like dispossessed European nobility and with any luck will say something outrageous that will drive Kerry onto the rocks. He could take the excitement out of a soccer riot, Molly Ivins said. All these we get to watch every day due to C-span, the best thing that ever happened except for the Internet. You’re making a HUGE mistake to pass this up. LOL
