That's a reassuring take. Though the fact that anyone questioning the massive corn growers' subsidy gets rebutted isn't surprising.

It's disconcerting that when you click on links you get to the National Corngrowners Association and the University of Iowa's Environmental and Energy Study Institute. Isn't Iowa corn country?

I'm suspicious, but then I'm a cynic. Maybe that corn growers' subsidy is a bargain and the USDA was wrong in '86 when it said we'd be better off just sending the farmers checks. Maybe it's working better now. Maybe all the business subsidy programs that cost us 85 billion a year (and growing) are a good idea. I can guarantee the recipients are all subsidizing studies to show it's working great.
