This is an issue that has always held my interest. One side of my family emigrated from Ireland in 19thC. In Ireland at that time, they had been terribly mistreated by England. For over 300yrs the native Irish(my ancestors) were forbidden to own land, hold public office, attend their own church or educate their children. They were ultimately forced to emigrate due to famine--even though there was food available in Ireland at the time, it was being exported by the English to England. However, in the 21st century I can truly say we have gotten over it. It is history and as such is no longer relevant to 21st century life. The people who inflicted the injustice died 200yrs ago. There's nothing anyone alive today can do to correct that injustice no matter how hard they wish they could do so. Do you agree with that sentiment?
