Ed Gillespie should be fired. He was probably working with Drudge, Hannity and Limbaugh on this. Those three don't make a move without the RNC's approval.

I would be willing to bet that the rumor originated in either the Dean or Clark camps. By the time Drudge picked it up, it was weeks old. I would be checking Chris Lehane's phone log.

BTW, I would suggest that Reagan's ten point victory over Carter constitutes a landslide.
