No his successor was...bush sr, who incited a revolt and turned his back to look the other way.

Not ignoring that part but you danced past why we supported Iraq altogether. No one knew what Saddam would become.

Really? The whole world knew that he was using chemical and biological weapons against Iran. Much worst humanitarian disasters have taken place in Iraq in the past, and in one case we abetted it, in the other we looked the other way. That was my point. If bush wanted to avoid war as he said he did a hundred times he could have. He had true human victory in the palm of his hand. With the army ibn Kuwait he could have forced a lock solid regime of inspections, lifted sanctions selectively and saved a lot of lives.
