We may not like the democracy that is finally created in Iraq, they themselves claim they want democracy even the clerics say this - they just want it to respect Islamic values, which to us sounds very non-democratic considering under Islamic values the women should remain quite. :-)

That will never work since you can't have a true democracy without everyone participating.

However, the Shiites in Iran are starting to lighten up and the women, at least in Teheran, where head scarves are seen more as a fashion statement than a religious symbol, are beginning to experience some Western freedoms. One impressive statistic that bodes well for the future is that women make up 60% of the graduating MDs in Iran.

If the Shiites in Iran can get away with this liberalizing of behaviors, and that's a big 'if', maybe the Shiites in Iraq will also lighten up!
