"However, the right wing has its own spins"

Probably so. But the alcohol argument is not just a "spin" issue for the right. America in general (as most world populations do) want the ability to get buzzed, and they feel the cost of drinking is outweighed by the benefits. I'm pretty sure some of the dems like to drink too. The one drug that raises a bit of a peeve with me is marijuana in that it is less dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes, and it is dishonestly compared to much, much worse drugs like crack and heroin. That said, doesn't make much sense to me to add more intoxicants into the legal brew, but I wish they dealt with it honestly.

Your other moral points do highlight big problems facing society. Good parenting is the best bet to help kids lead decent and productive lives. And the repubs imo raise this message more than the dems. A whole generation of blacks is being wiped out by drugs and violence because of the irresponsible behavior of many of the men in that group, and all the dems want to do is take the 2nd ammendment right for honest citizens away so they can make stupid people vote for them. Don't really seem to care about these people at all, and imo they seem to want status quo with this group because they are a great target audience to pit against successful folks as the fault of their situation as opposed to something they can be encouraged to achieve themselves.
