A 2MB download for an ad would take me 12 minutes just to download. Some people might not mind this but I would. If this new form of ads didn't have a way to toggle them off to prevent them from even starting to download I would block the sites from my computer.

That is the reason I have macromedia flash blocked. There are times when there are flash things I would like to see but the 95% of the times it is just advertising far outweighs the other 5%. If there would have been a way to toggle it on and off when I disabled it a year or so ago I would not have disabled it. If others would disable it they would give in and allow you to toggle it. There is free software available which says it will allow you to toggle flash but it has came out since I disabled it and I haven't looked into it yet.

edit: From the same website you linked to there is a link to another article which says MSN is discontinuing popups and going to this unicast type of ads. From reading between the lines it looks like they may have a way right now to keep you from shuting it off.
