Oh, I don't know if that's the choice. For one thing, it's not all about the gas: the process of making the ethanol is itself generating pollution.

And if it's true that the ethanol subsidy is depleting non-renewable resources, and using more energy than it saves, and costing us hundreds of millions of dollars every year, maybe we could think of other, less expensive and inefficient ways to decrease pollution!
