Bush went directly into the guard. Others, those on the waiting list, never made it and were shipped to Vietnam.

Were you expecting something in the records to say"Young Bush has been allowed to jump line because his dads an influencial congressman - Signed General Doodlebrain"?

It's the epitome of hypocrisy that Bush avoided combat yet he is willing to send young men not so fortunate as him to their deaths. He's the one calling himself a "War" President. Kerry was wounded THREE times in Veitnam - he's the real deal.

Re: "...It seems he did NOT get special treatment, and I presume did not jump ahead of anyone,"

>>> Just how in the hell did you draw that conclusion? How does one jump ahead of several hundred other applicants --- who have higher test scores and have been waiting for enlistment longer?

"As for the Drug test speculation, I have no idea if such testing began way back then,"

>>> No need to speculate. The first year that testing for drug use was made part of the annual required physicals was the year he failed to take his examination. Coincidence, no doubt....
