Except the Bush AWOL is about more than deserting. It is even more than being about drugs. It's about Bush not willing to come to grips with who he is and was.

Other Presidents avoided going to Vietnam, but at least they were forthcoming about their actions and the reasons for their actions.

I agree. It's not so much the AWOL thing. It's about the way Bush Junior tries to con everyone into believing he is a regular guy. Every aspect of his national guard service screams out that he is a privileged fellow who gets special treatment that the rest of us could never hope for in our lives.
