I think it more a question of being a "womanizer" than being a cheater.

Womanizing is another thread in this. Womanizing has a misogynest quality that I, as a feminist, find singularly offputting. It has different political implications than cheating because it shows lack of respect for half of the voting public. Cheating is an ethical issue, more relevant to general trustworthiness and thus job related.

We can't necessarily infer either womanizing or cheating from the fact of an extra-marital affair, although the former is possible and the latter is likely. Smoke, but not necessarily fire.
