I'm struggling with my sector fund trading. Some time ago, I developed a spread sheet that allows me to track the Rydex fund rotation. The s/s examines the past 4 weeks and I update it every Saturday. As nifty as this idea seemed to me when I started it, I fail to get much value from it. These funds seem to move very slowly and the rotation in leadership is all over the map.

Any fresh ideas out there?

Steve I have a ton of questions for you and hope to tap some of your experience and expertise trading Profunds.

Are you using the Dow Jones Indexes, exclusively, as your proxies for trading decisions in the sector funds? My present charting system does not have the Dow Jones indexes available and I can see that it is handicapping me.I need Real time Dow Jones index charts.

I was under the assumption that I could substitute ishare indexes and HOLDERS for my proxies...but I now think that is a big mistake. After all, the Profunds sector funds are supposed to mirror the DJ indexes in performance, aren't they? Is it your experience that they do correlate well?

Any advice you can give me on what proxies you have had success or failure with would be most appreciated.

Also what do you use as a proxy for the bond funds,Japan and Europe funds?

I made a trade in the Japan fund last week based on ishares EWJ index. That also appears to be a mistake. If I had used a signal from the Nikkei chart instead, I would have been in for the big up day today...instead of last weeks small loss.

I had trouble finding a Nikkei chart but will now base the Japan fund trades solely on the Nikkei chart.

This has been a lot of work...and I've made some mistakes. But I've learned an awful lot just in the last two weeks by diving into this thing and trading it.I think I have a pretty good handle on where to go from here.

I'm thinking of going with Stockcharts/Sharpcharts. I 've always liked the way they look.
