I am curious and would like some input from everyone. How much of an effect has the NAFTA agreement had on the job situation today?

Well, there is some truth to that. My grandfather came over here from Italy with the intentions of making it as a blacksmith. Needless to say, blacksmith jobs have long since disappeared. There is nothing much you can do about macro-economic trends that affect jobs. But, a President can do things to try to protect and create jobs in our country. Things like spending making the tax code punish companies who move jobs oversears, or spending on domestic infrastructure projects, or trying to create a new domestic industry from scratch through tax breaks and subsidies, or spending on job training, etc. There are things a President can do to improve the lives of working Americans if they choose to do so. The point is Bush hasn't even tried to make things better for working Americans. Bush's policies are great if you're a wealthy Republican looking to outsource jobs overseas, but what's in it for everyone else.
