I'm sure there are elements of the bible that get it right - but so much of it is just allegory and fiction. How can you reconcile the story of Adam and Eve with the theory of evolution? Pretty strong evidence that man has evolved over millions of years. Genesis is a good story if one looks at it as a lesson about "falling from grace" but it's a little hard to swallow in a literal sense. Thats why you should be careful about saying things like "this or that is an abomination" becuase the bible says so - because the bible simply isn't always right.
