I don't think it is right to attack Kerry's service....I do think his post war conduct and outrageous statements are fair game....

Most people I knew in Vietnam were just trying to pull their time there and get the hell out Now THATS about the first honest appraisal I have read. I could tell you about a buddy that went in with me and was somewhat wounded, while at the aid station a small boy looked to be no more then 8 tossed a grenade in a tent filled with wounded men. My friend COULD have jumped out and fell on the ground but the dumb ass tried to KICK the grenade out and it exploded blowing off his right leg at the knee. He didnt get SHIT.(but no one else in the tent was hurt from it) Or, how about a machine gunner in our unit that refused to abandon his post when we were about to be overrun and singlehandedly held off a large force. We counted over 200 bodies in front of his gun the next morning. Honest to God, they guy wanted to kill more, his eyes were red like the Devil incarnated. He got SHIT. Now tell me about Kerry's scratches and medals. jdn
