Larry Kudlow and many other supply siders have been on record as saying the "capex recovery" cycle will create jobs when it kicks in. The durable goods numbers have been a disappointment for months. We had a stock market rise last year in the semiconductors and other capex type tech stocks in anticipation of the capex cycle returning... but since about November, most capex plays are flat. If this is it, which I suspect, it is way below expectations from a year or so ago. Of course supply side economists try to put a happy face on things, and capex companies like intel are trying to switch to consumer lines.
