McCain on Kerry from his book "Worth the Fighting For".
McCain talks in his book about serving on the MIA/POWs commission to determine what happened to the MIA/POW's in Vietnam. He served with John Kerry on that commission; Kerry was the Chairman. On Kerry, McCain writes (pgs 244-245):

"John's antiwar activities hadn't exactly endeared him to me, and in the four years we had served together, I had mostly kept my distance from him. That would change during the little more than a year the Senate Select Committee was in existence. We would become allies in the search for the truth, and then allies in the cause of normal relations between the US and Vietnam. And we became good friends as well. ...he ran the committee with fairness to all points of view... In these frequently inflammatory circumstances, John Kerry played peacemaker and somehow, with great sensitivity and patience, kept the committee operating until we eventually arrived at some approximation of the truth. I respected him immensely for the accomplishment."
