Hold on a second...

You state:
Because this president refers to himself as a "war president

I have a feeling that he would have preferred to have been a peaceful president. Alas, September 11th changed all that.

You then state this:
because he's made decisions that have sent men and women to their deaths based on questionable information and poor odds of success

You are judging the president based on hindsight. Do you think that Johnson had better information when he sent troops to Vietnam? Other than the FACT that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, do you think that FDR had better information? My problem with your view here is that I believe that you are judging the President through the tainted lens of our current media.

What would be interesting to find out is how much differently WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War would have gone if the leaders during those times of crisis would have been exposed to the 24/7 media scrutiny that our leaders now face.

I find this statement extremely odd:
History is replete with examples of men who sent others to war while they played polo, or golf, or shot pet quail. Some men seem unable to effectively compute the overall costs and seem only able to weigh the costs to themselves.

You may have a point...Bill Clinton sent troops to Bosnia and launched missiles at Iraq, all the while he was getting blow-jobs in the White House from an intern. To be honest, I don't think George Bush fits your characterization.
