LOL, Bush latched on to dividends because his smokestack industry friends were left behind as all these kids got rich in the 90s. Dividends DO NOTHING to stimulate the economy. Dividend/mature companies are not big hirers, growth companies are. A dividend tax cut actually siphons money off the growth stock group. And to top it off, elderly fixed income investors who might care about dividend taxes are disproportionately in tax deferred accounts anyway!
