Al, re:I have not...Ted may want to answer...he has been taking courses on ME history. Thanks, I'll ask if he hasn't read this already. The most critical reviews claim his work up until this book was very good and this one went off on an unsupported tangent to be polite - the interesting thing is it has been claimed to have been used by the Bush administration to help create new ME policy. That Lewis was invited to the White House on several occasions to consult on ME policy. I saw a bit of an interview with him on PBS or some other cable channel and he had very interesting opinions, but whether they're true is another thing entirely - he has studied and written about the ME for decades. arab2.com Eric
