Is that what really happened? I must admit I'm in a pretty cynical frame of mind. The anti-war crowd has done so much moaning about how they're being silenced by the fascist Bush regime - moaning that went on all over the pages of the New York Times and CNN, not negligible media outlets - that I need to see a sober summation of the evidence from somebody credible before I believe there's something to really get upset about. 'We couldn't march exactly where we wanted' doesn't quite cut it.

Those who go to see the President speak, including the media, generally do not have an opportunity to see the protesters — they are kept safely out of the way, out of sight.

Was it any different under Clinton? I don't remember him ever facing protests.

As for that supoena, was it really the first? I need somebody besides a reporter to say so. And did they not have to persuade a federal judge that they had probable cause? For me the jury is out on that one.
