"I heard Walter Cronkite speaking with Bill Moyers this week on PBS. He told of how several years ago, as a way to putting him down, a friend had called him a "bleeding liberal".
He went to his office and looked up "liberal" in the dictionary. He knew what it meant but he wanted an "official" definition of the word. He found it and faxed it to his friend along with a list of synonyms and antonyms listed in the definition.
He attached a note which thanked his friend for thinking so highly of him and for realizing that he was not like any of the antonyms would suggest. So next time you are called a liberal or think of calling someone a liberal, be sure you know what you are saying.
