Obviously, Infant mortality isn't the only factor. Firearm-related deaths, suicide, and crime rates are other variables, especially since violent deaths tend to occur in the teens and twenties.

I don't know that life is terribly different in Australia, other than the fact that their health care is better.

What is the crime rate? Gun use? Drug abuse?

Physicians come from all over the world to Baltimore to get practice in trauma surgery and the treatment of GSWs. We have more action in a long holiday weekend at the Shock Trauma Center than major hospitals in other industrialized countries might see in a year. Every major city in the US has a trauma center to treat the continual fallout from crime.
