Regarding my calculations, I used the constant peak Jan heating, but I multiply by 10 instead of 12, also since the water is coming form pipes below ground it might be reasonable to assume 50F all the time, So you are always heating water from 50 -105, though, you may not use the 105F water in the same proportion in July as in Jan.

NJ offers 60% subsidy on home PV's, more than 'green' CA, but that might still be 10K out of a 30K system. Which is why all the PV sites ask you to reduce consumption first before sizing a PV system, as the savings pays off in lower capital costs.
So I am back to looking for cheap fixes. And here is one, thermal drapes to capture the heat when every one is at work(need not be pretty to look at).
