Do you expect that majority of recipients of Defined Benefit Pensions will actually be able to collect on them?

The recipients don't hold the pension fund assets. The assets are held by the company, just like 401(k) assets.

>>Defined Benefit Pensions are probably much more prevalent among the older age groups<<

I would like to know the exact figures.

I am on a defined benefit pension, and would be getting a lot more if I had had control of it during the 1970s and 1980s. But then the managers discovered high tech about 1998 and managed to lose billions of do0llars, but I still get what I was promised. So at least I know where I am.

So I just consider this as my conservative core income that leaves me free to take on a lot more risk with my own money. Seems to work OK.
