You should read what Kerry said instead of parroting what rightwing attack hacks say. There was nothing accusatory in his language at all. He was criticizing the war itself, not any of his fellow soldiers. He was reporting what friends in Nam had confessed they had done, but not in an accusing way. He was alerting the country that the war had gone mad. Anyone who claims thousands of atrocious insane things were happening in Nam by 1968-1970 is just plain ignorant. Countless people were dying on a daily basis and we'd forgotten why. Kerry told it like it was, woke up people to the facts and helped end that war. His actions helped save thousands of our soldiers lives. Read the Watergate transcripts too where Nixon or his righthand man calls Kerry a "baby-killer". The attitude of the far right miltary crowd is you shouldn't rat out what was going on and pretend everything was OK despite the opposite being true. Just like in PLATOON, the Tom Berenger character was intent on covering up the murder he was committing. PLATOON was very realistic in that way. Kerry was a great warrior who is also a great patriot. The best thing he could have done for his country was to try and end the bloodshed, and the best way to do that was to expose how bad it really was. Remember, in those days, the government was lying to the public, pretending it wasn't so bad. You should read The Pentagon papers too. The rightwing is so much about covering up the truth and lying to the people about what is really going on. Enough is enough. Propaganda belongs in dictatorships not in a free democracy.
