tejek,

re:Yes, right now, jobs are being lost to India but in 5 years, it will be a blimp.

Yes, I've had this same reaction from others at work who claim this has happened several times with other (smaller) countries. Their argument is as the economy of the other country rises manufacturers look for other places to take jobs - this may still be true but I think they neglect the scale of the comparision when you talk about India, they are much larger and are much lower economically so what took five years in one smaller nation could be decades in India. Then we have China to take up more slack, who knows - by then perhaps Africa will stop killing itself and create a work force.

The difference this time is it's not simply manufacturing jobs but skilled technical jobs and co-workers from India are actually thinking of moving "home" at times. In addition, the new home land defense business has put a crimp on the H1B visa process, so we can't bring over talent as easily as we had in the past.

So I guess my service industry skills may need updating and I could open a restaurant. <g>

re:Its as illogical as Columbus saying 600 years ago that one could encircle the globe by ship. The question is not if world gov't is coming but when.

When the PLO accepts the war with Israel is over and that they lost and form a coalition government with the Israelis I will accept your theory.
