There would never be financial considerations in the mix. It would only be a matter of the patient's wishes (there is such a thing as a living will) along with the prognosis. There should be the option for all adults IMO.

As for financial considerations, there is a tremendous amount spent at the end of life rather than where it could count, in prevention and cures earlier on. The healthcare system is an odd thing, people think it's so mysterious that it's inviolate. Baloney.
