ASML to cut 305 jobs in the Netherlands
Friday February 20, 2:07 am ET

AMSTERDAM, Feb 20 (Reuters) - Dutch chip equipment maker ASML (Amsterdam:ASML.AS - News; NasdaqNM:ASML - News) said on Friday it will cut 305 jobs in the Netherlands, or 11 percent of the Dutch workforce and six percent of its global staff.

ASML said the cuts, consisting of contractors and full time employees and agreed by its works council, was part of the restructuring plans it announced in July 2003.

ASML is the world's largest maker of semiconductor lithography machines which map out electronic circuits on silicon wafers. It competes with Japan's Nikon Corp (Tokyo:7731.T - News) and Canon Inc (Tokyo:7751.T - News).
