That all may or may not be true. Regardless, it's a moot point. We attacked Iraq because we were all told they HAD WMD and if we didn't go in right NOW, then there was a strong possibility we'd all be seeing a "mushroom cloud" over our heads...according to GWB. Second, you are correct, there is no direct link between the Saddam and 9-11. There is however evidence of cooperation between al Qaeda and Saddam's Iraq. And one of the planners of the first World Trade Center bombing, did flee to Iraq. Further, the main reason that bin Laden declared war against the United States in 1998, was the presence of U.S. troops stationed in Saudi Arabia, and their enforcement of UN sanctions. If Saddam had fully cooperated with the UN and not undertaken genocide, then 9-11 would never have happened (as Saudi Arabia would almost certainly have asked American troops to leave, before September 2001).
