Macho-strutting Texans are not the only Americans who can defend this country. A solid, moderate Democrat who has his priorities in order & who would focus on relieving some of the pressure placed on middle class Americans as a result of unfair free trade, would do an outstanding job as well. Bush & Co cannot walk & chew gum at the same time. The country has changed drastically for the worse during his term because their sole focus has been the War on Terror. Edwards has proven that he's smart & energetic enough to get it all done.

Bush is a chickenhawk who went AWOL and avoided the war. Cheney did too. Do did Delay. Bush was a cheerleader in school not an athlete. he went on to be al alcoholic playboy until his father got him funded in business. Texans are not all tough guys or moral people. Texas has more Methodists and white collar crooks than any place in America. It's a schitzo state that way. It's part of the culture there. Generally nice people but a long tradition of ole boys insider deals, racism and corruption which the Bush administraion reeks of. Remember, in the beginning Texas was largely founded by Mexican-hating rebel outlaws. Also remember Bush is really an East Coast preppy who got moved down there. Once he got there he was a big fish in a small pond. Back in New England he was just another country club slacker. He exaggerates his Texas accent when he speaks in the south. He's 50% a phony. But he has has a powerful family and smoozes well.
