I purchased shares in SJR today initial purchase and added shares in maxygen a long term holding- i believe its just too cheap now at these levels. SJR is a cable/hi speed internet provider in British Columbia and Alberta. Its owned by some value investors like longleaf and i believe it will benefit from the natural resources boom.
Maxygen is a biotech market cap around $300MM cash around $180MM, insignifant debt. Companies has agreeements with several reputable companies including Roche. Also has Chemical and Industrial Subsidiaries that i believe it would like to spin off to focus on drug development. It was written up in barrons a couple of months ago when it was in the elevens. its now a tad over 9.
