mishedlo,

Thanks for the lowdown on your name.

I found this thread because I have been lurking over at Epic for months. You posted an invite the other day, and I have been following your thread since the first post.

What I find interesting is that many bright people at SI have strong, and sometimes diametric, opinions about the future. We have always had bulls and bears, but that has been limited mainly to cycles. What I have seen in the past six months, and its escalating, are polar opinions about what happens next.

To be honest, I really don't have a good feeling yet. Certainly our economy is not doing as well as the hedonic government fluffers would like us to believe. Do we melt down, or is massive debt never to be repaid just part of the cost of global everything? I really don't know, but I do sleep well with 30% of my assets in gold.

I will keep lurking here and at Epic, and maybe offer something from time to time. I work for Germans, and the Euro at 1.30 is going to kill our USA sales. We are already bleeding badly on some of the mature product lines.

Thanks again, this is a great resource.

TH

mish, I read both threads, although my thinking is closer to yours!

Reading the Bubble thread reminds of an old quote by a British economist, Sir Roy Harrod, "Economists are born little inflationists or little deflationists, and go through their lives fearing the onset of inflation or deflation respectively."

In that same vein, a friend of mine always cautions against fighting the last war (i.e. inflation).

I think we have to keep an open mind. We might see both.
Best to all.
