If one has watched enough presidential races, one sees that the Democrats are going through exactly the same phases as either party goes through when they have a throw-away presidential year:

1) The leading candidates are Senators.

2) The "smart money" in the party long ago decided to sit it out, leading a few fund raisers (mostly to keep their OWN networks up-to-date), and issuing "official" public endorsements.

3) As the primary season goes on, the media is still constantly "suprised" at the "shocking" trend changes, while failing to correctly analyze that the ONLY reason is there is NO strong candidate.

4) And the one most often missed: The less-than-useless PUBLIC pollsters show the emerging sacrificial lamb ahead of the incumbent-a phenomenon that reflects only that the public pollsters are succeeding at measuring TV exposure-not tendencies to vote.

I HAVE been watching for a long time-longer, certainly, than anyone on this thread. And I have a far better grounding in history, economics and politics than anyone who has ever posted here. What I see is a major, party-threatening defeat across the board for the Democrats. But such a defeat will, if history is any indication at all, REFORM the democratic party-not destroy it. The earthquake of 91101 SHOULD have made that party finally dump the anti-American left after 30+ years of being corrupted by it. It did not-so the earthquake of 11-04 most likely WILL...

And an electoral trend that will shock the left wing media in 2004:

The low-income, illiterate segment of the black community that has dominated URBAN vote returns through blind loyalty to the white racist left-and including flagrant vote fabrication-will be rendered less significant by the emerging Hispanic voters, who-while still tending slightly liberal in their emerging years, do not sell out 90% to the anti-American Democrats. This group is trending more conservative with each cycle, as the moral bankruptcy and oppressive socialism of the Democrats continues to interfere with the Hispanic attempts to establish roots as the newest Americans.

The conflict between the reactionary pro-left politics of the low-income illiterate segment of the black community and the emerging conservatism of the Hispanic community will continue to increase in visibility in this cycle-and become a dominant story in future ones. This is one more mega-trend that the Bush Rove team has managed to accelerate in 2004...
