Kaddafi hasn't been a real threat to us in many years, but if he disarms now because he's scared of what we did to Saddam, that's a good thing. So we're both right. But this is no simple one-dimensional case. Not by a longshot.And the US may not even be the #1 player here. The UK and Europe are.

Also don't forget the UN sanctions against Libya. Mohammar may have finally realized that these WMD's (whatever he has) are really self-defeating. His dream of Arab-Pan Africa Alliance has been shattered for 15-20 years. He found himself the moderate at the last Arab summit.
He may have asked himself "who the hell am I ever going to use these things on?" vs. "How much is this costing me?" and "Wha the hell am I trying to prove?"
