<<I was talking about Fed tax, >>

Social Security is a Federal tax. It's collected by the Federal government and spent as general revenue. These are simple facts.

Ever since Reagan raised the payroll taxes in '83 Social Security has run something like $2 trillion in surpluses. The federal government, Republicans and Democrats alike, have spent every penny of it and more, that's why we have a $7 trillion debt.

When Bush ran for President he said we had a $5 trillion surplus ahead of us. Half of that was from Social Security. Why was he counting that money?

This year he's calling for a $521 billion deficit. He's counting the SS surplus money as general revenue. Without it this years' deficit would be about $150 billion more, that is, close to $700 billion.

If they're taking it out of workers checks and spending it like general revenue, how is it not a tax?

<<and the FACT that the top 1% of earners paying 36% of FED TAXES is enough. Now make your argument why it is not. Without talking about other subjects.>>

I've already talked about this. Your argument is silly and arbitrary. You need to know how much income that 1% earn.

If they earn 90% of the income but only pay 36% of the income taxes would that be enough in your opinion?

I've already told you what would be right in my opinion: people should pay taxes in proportion to their wealth. If you own 1% of the nation's wealth you should be paying 1% of the taxes.

<<You guys disgust me. Socialism doesn't work.>>

Angry and foolish, what a charming combination.

If Socialism doesn't work, why have Bush and the Republicans just added a prescription drug benefit to LBJ's Medicare?
