Extreme Engg, on Discovery Channel showed the Dutch concern. Rising levels of water would inundate most of Holland in two ways one from the sea and one due to rising river waters on the Rhine(?), flooding Amsterdam and Rotterdam. While they showed really cool high tech methods of damming the sea -'world's largest robot' they also looked at alternate ways.
The show ended with the Dutch engineers looking to New Orleans to study a fall back method of intentionally inundating some demarcated areas.
One person in NO talked about the futility of fighting nature and likened the energy in a hurricane to 100 or 1000 nuclear bombs!
