I believe there is still and will always be a 'moral line' that society should not cross. It may change over time, as we dissolve some of the more abominable 'traditions' of mankind. We need to recognize that the moral line of society is not the same as the moral line of an individual, or even a group of individuals.

I accept that many believe homosexuality is morally reprehensible. Given that, I can see how they would assume that the 'acceptance' of homosexuality is no different than the acceptance of pedophilia, bestiality, and TV reality shows. However, I disagree with them that accepting one leads to the other. Using that argument means that we're forever stuck with the status quo...

btw: didn't the US abolish slavery in the Northern states, as part of the Great Compromise?
